Fred’s Dissonance has been hired by the the City of Fargo. We proposes to produce Umoja 56 MLK Day Celebration, a Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration, at the Fargo Theater on Monday, January 20, 2025, from 6:00 – 8:30 pm.
Purpose
To honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and spotlight the ongoing efforts of Fargo’s Human Rights Commission and community partners in upholding his vision. In the spirit of Dr. King, we propose a community-centered event that explores his legacy over the past 56 years, amplifies the voices of local youth, and celebrates unity through performances, speeches, and community engagement.
In the 56 years since Dr. King’s assassination, the nation continues to strive for equality, economic empowerment, and educational access. This event, led by youth from the Umoja program, is a tribute to Dr. King’s enduring dream. “Umoja,” meaning unity in Swahili, embodies the collective spirit necessary for driving positive change in our community.
