Hi there, if this is not the place for these comments I am sorry but i need to get this off my chest. I am the father of a transgender boy and a gay boy. My transgender son came out a year and half ago as being a boy trapped in a girls body and has since been diagnosed with gender dysphoria. My gay son has recently came out to me as gay and his close friends and was outed by one to his friends to the entire school. Since then the boy that outed him has wanted to fight him . My son fought him and won, then the boy kept wanting a rematch and my son said no. then after 2 weeks of the boy continuing to try to get my son to fight him my son agreed. But the boy brought a bigger kid, a bully to beat up my son. the bully has also harassed and bullied my kids and other kids at Beulah Schools for the last 5 years i know of. I contacted the Beulah Police Department and they took a report about the incident and turned it over to the Juvenile Courts. The Mercer County Sheriffs Dept as well as the Mercer County Youth Bureau is also involved.I also had meeting with the principal of Beulah Middle School, Superintendent of the Beulah School District, and school counselor as well.I am awaiting a response from Juvenile Courts as the Beulah Police Department said they are charging my son with disorderly conduct for meeting with the one boy to fight. One of the other boys will be charged with disorderly conduct and the one that attacked my son will be charged with assault and disorderly conduct according to the Beulah Officer that took the report. I understand that but don’t believe it is right. I am very interested in attending this Summit. My kids deserve to be who they are without fear from people that hate or don’t want people to be different from them. What gives them the right to decide what is normal.
Good morning, Mr. Smith. Thank you for your note, and for sharing your story. One of our Board Members will be in contact with you directly.
I’m so sorry you and you’re son have to go through this! I grew up in Beulah…and it was awful…being different in that place paints a target on you’re back…you and you’re son keep being strong! I’m with you!
Mr. Smith, I am leading a presentation at the 2019 NDCA conference focused on Gender Dysphoria and the experiences of transgender people. I would love to send your son a survey for my session at that conference. If he is interested, please contact me at [email protected] .
I am a senior, on a limited income, and have always felt “different”. I have been married (to a man) have had boyfriends, AND girlfriends, I have 2 sons, grandkids etc. I have always been afraid to tell my family of my Bi side, and I am so very happy to have found out about this wonderful Summit! I have always felt strongly, that EVERYONE deserves to be themselves, no matter the gender identification etc, and this will help so many, especially the youth (wish I had had something like this years ago). I really look forward to coming, and will sign up after I find out a little more info as of cost of the actual summit etc. I wont need a room, as I don’t live far away. Thank you so very much for making this experience available to us, and hugs to all.
