If hyperlinks will not work, please use Microsoft Internet Explorer while we work to fix the problem. Our Mission... The North Dakota Human Rights Coalition works to effect change so that all people in North Dakota enjoy full human rights.
The North Dakota Human Rights Coalition (NDHRC) is a broad-based coalition of individuals and organizations with an interest in the furtherance of human rights in North Dakota. We work toward the enhancement of human rights in North Dakota through information, education and legislative action.
We can improve the quality of life in North Dakota through individuals and organizations supporting our efforts, and through membership and financial support.
Our Vision... The NDHRC seeks to empower individuals in North Dakota in their communities, state legislature (governments), and society at large to promote and protect human rights for all people.
The Coalition will accomplish its goals through organizational growth to include staff and board members from around the state; develop programs targeting legislative activity, education, employment, and other social issues; continue to build alliances with other organizations working for social justice; and sustain its infrastructure with mixed public and private support.
Our Values... NDHRC will:
Establish a trust with its members, donors, and supporters
Seek a common good without denying individual rights
Insure mutual respect is given to all people
Leading the Work Toward Full Human Rights Through...
Grassroots Action
NDHRC works with people in North Dakota who are interested in creating local human relations commissions, like those in Fargo, Bismarck and Dickinson. NDHRC supports the creation of student human rights groups in high schools and campuses, and is working to address human rights issues in Indian Country in North Dakota.
NDHRC publishes a e-mail newsletter, the NDHRC PAUR Report (Programs, Announcements, Updates, & Resources) available on this website.
Public Education NDHRC sponsors an annual conference on human rights in the fall of each year and NDHRC provides support and resources for other conferences and workshops in North Dakota that work toward and enhance human rights.
Legislative Action NDHRC's staff, board members and members work with the North Dakota Legislature and Governor by providing legislators and the Governor with information vital to evaluate the need for human rights legislation, including a North Dakota Commission on Human Rights, civil rights for gay / lesbian / transgender / bisexual residents of the state, and those who are victims of hate crimes in North Dakota.
