Division of Human Rights releases Discrimination Survey The study conducted by the North Dakota Department of Labor on the extent and nature of discrimination in North Dakota is now available on the ND DOL website at http://www.state.nd.us/labor/publications/discrimination.html, "Public Perception Study of Discrimination in North Dakota". It's quite long. It's available through the ND DOL for $10.56 for the publication & postage; contact them at humanrights@state.nd.us to order it. 7.) (Reminder) University of Minnesota Hosts Conference: “Teaching and Researching Across Color Lines (Twin Cities)

Teaching and Researching Across Color Lines
"Teaching and Researching Across Color Lines: Literacies, Pedagogies and the Politics of Difference" is the title of an upcoming three-day conference. It will be at the Radisson Hotel Metrodome on the Minneapolis campus of the University of Minnesota, Feb. 21-23, 2003.
Nationally acclaimed keynote speakers include Pulitzer-nominated critical race theorist Gerald Torres; and Gloria Ladson-Billings, Julie Landsman, Donaldo Macedo, Alice McIntyre, Carol Miller and David Roediger. The conference will also feature a panel discussion on the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and roundtable sessions on race, literacy and education.

9.) (Reminder) Free Online Tax Preparation for Some AmericansIf you make $27,000 or less, you can prepare and file your federal and state taxes online for free. The Quicken Tax Freedom Project was started last year. Your organization constituents that you work with may be eligible. An Intuit spokesperson was in Bismarck to promote their project last year and the website says they are still offering this service. Go to: www.quicken.com/freedom The Intuit Financial Freedom Foundation is pleased to offer free online tax preparation and filing to hard working Americans and their families who have an adjusted gross income (AGI) of $27,000 or less, or who are eligible to claim the federal Earned Income Tax
