NDHRC Internship Program The North Dakota Human Rights Coalition Internship Program provides students with valuable, in-depth human rights advocacy experience. Interns receive special projects relative to the Coalition’s goals, which include both substantive and administrative work. This work experience is designed to allow them to grow and explore their interests while at the NDHRC. Interns participate in community meetings, annual conference, and integral board and committee meetings, through which every intern will learn about all aspects of the organization. The NDHRC looks for interns who are ready to join the Coalition and work to effect change so that all people in North Dakota enjoy full human rights. We have tailored our internship program to undergraduate college students, but will consider recent graduates and graduate students. Because interns work within all facets of the organization and undertake a variety of tasks, each internship requires different skills and demonstrated interests. Selection is based on the Coalition’s need, availability of funding and staffing resources, applicant’s cover letter and resume, and a phone or in-person interview. Generally, the NDHRC offers only one or two internships each year.
NDHRC interns have a demonstrated interest and enthusiasm in the role of grassroots and legislative advocacy around human rights issues; ability to work in a fast-paced work environment; independent and self-motivated; and experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access).
