RE: ABC program, “Welcome to the Neighborhood”
Please consider refusing to air the program from ABC, “Welcome to the Neighborhood”, scheduled to air on July 10, 2005.
As outlined in the attached Press Release from the National Fair Housing Alliance, this program perpetuates biases and prejudices against people of color, people of minority religions, and families with children of color, and families which include gay or lesbian couples.
We ask that you do not participate in this portrayal of prejudices and biases, much less racism and violations of the families’ civil rights. In order to have healthy communities, we need to accept and welcome diversity, not exclude families on the basis of their race or national origin, religion or sexual orientation/gender identity.
We appreciate your consideration of this request, and ask that you communicate these concerns to the national network, ABC.
