NDHRC Goals

 

The North Dakota Human Rights Coalition goals originated from strategic planning in 2002, and are re-evaluated for progress and amendment on an annual basis. The following goals were revised in May 2005, and are based on components of a change model, addressing education, resources, policies and procedures, rewards and accountability, and planning.  Listed below are NDHRC's current goals:

 

June 2005 - September 2006 Goals

 

Education Goal: To increase and enhance grassroots interest and support for human rights issues by providing human rights education

 

Grassroots Action

 

July 20, 2006 - Grand Forks Herald publishes article concerning the planning of a Grand Forks Human Relations Commission

August 9, 2005 – NDHRC Participated in Nagasaki Day Observance, sponsored by the Presentation Sisters, on "Creating a Peaceful Environment in the F-M Area

 

July 2005 - Sent letters to the editor in response to opinion letter from Ayn Rand Institute (Newspaper articles number 8 & 9)

 

Ongoing - NDHRC Membership on Board of Directors of Fair Housing Council of the Dakotas

 

Ongoing - NDHRC Membership on the Leadership Council of North Dakota Progressive Coalition

 

Ongoing - Participation in Steering Committee of NEW Leadership Development Institute

 

Public Education

 

October 27 & 28, 2005 – NDHRC Annual Conference (PDF)

 

August 29 – 30, 2005 – NDHRC Participated in North Dakota Disabilities Advocacy Consortium Conference

 

July 2005 - NDHRC Participated in Bismarck-Mandan PRIDE Event

 

June 2005 - NDHRC Participated in Fargo-Moorhead PRIDE Parade & Rally

 

Ongoing – Develop & distribute bi-monthly electronic newsletter - NDHRC PAUR Report (Programs, Announcements, Updates, & Reminders)

 

Ongoing - Sponsorship of Human Rights Directory in the High Plains Reader

 

Ongoing – NDHRC Volunteer Program

June 2, 2005-  Sent Letter to Governor Hoeven Regarding Appointment of New Labor Commissioner

 

Resources Goal: To recruit and organize resources (people, time and money) directed at accomplishing the mission of NDHRC

Rewards/Accountability Goal: Create opportunities for public acknowledgement, recognition, or accountability of human rights work of individuals, organizations, and communities
