NDHRC Action Alert - Human Rights bills in the North Dakota Legislature
The North Dakota Human Rights Coalition will provide testimony on several bills the week of January 17th. Please visit http://ndhrc.org/Goals/2005LegActivities/2005LegislativeActivities.htm or http://ndhrc.org/Goals/NonGoalWork/Developments/OtherNDHRCWork.htm for the NDHRC testimony.
HB 1171

Changes to Workers' Compensation Benefits for Injured Workers
The North Dakota Human Rights Coalition opposes changes in HB 1171 that would weaken the protections for workers in capping temporary total disability benefits at 104 weeks or when maximum medical recovery is achieved.
We also oppose the change to the definition of permanent total disability. This change further reduces the disabled worker’s entitlement to “sure and certain” relief when injured on the job.
If you'd like to help oppose these changes, please contact the members of the House Industry, Business and Labor Committee and let them know that you support the NDHRC's objections. You can send them an e-mail, or call them at 1-888-NDLEGIS (635-3447) or 701-328-3373 (local).
Suggested comment:
I support the objections of the North Dakota Human Rights Coalition to the changes in HB 1171. I ask for a do not pass recommendation on House Bill 1171.
